Alamo Colleges include the many different colleges who serve the Bexar County through their different services as well as programs in order to aid their students in order for them to succeed in acquiring all the different knowledge as well as skills which are needed in the world today. In the Alamo Colleges, the students are being taught by faculty members who are highly qualified; the faculty members are holders of either Master’s or doctorate degrees. There are actually five different colleges which cover the Alamo Colleges; these colleges are the following: San Antonio College, St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, Northeast Lakeview College, and Northwest Vista College. Furthermore, the Alamo Colleges are composed of nine board of trustees who were elected locally by the voters in the Bexar County; they serve for six- year terms. The San Antonio College offers ten different programs which include their Nursing Program. The San Antonio College Nursing Program has been recognized in February 2008 as an Exemplary Program. Furthermore, the San Antonio College also offers continuing education through its Training Network. Courses offered include the following: Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Nursing Students, understanding Pharmacology Mathematics, Monitor Tech Programs including the Introduction to Cardiac Rhythms, Intermediate Arrhythmia Recognition, and Advance Arrhythmia Recognition, Certified Nursing Assistant Program which requires six courses including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), OSHA Tech, Malpractice Low Risk, Nurse Aide, Nurse Aide for Healthcare, and Clinical for Nurse Aide, RN Refresher, Intravenous Therapy, Medical Terminology, Reiki I, II, and III as well as Spanish for Health Care.
The San Antonio College also offers online schooling through their Online Instruction Center. Course offered are Basic Computer Literacy, Graphic Design, Web Page Design, Web and Computer Programming, PC Troubleshooting, Networking, and Security, Digital Photography and Digital Video, Writing and Publishing, Test Prep, and many more.
